  1. CB Radio interference issue on my FJ40

Background. I had an older Uniden radio in my 40 for the last 8 years, it started having mic issues and rather than just replace the mic I opted to replace the unit with the Cobra 75WXST as I've really come to like them and I had a spare one here. The Uniden was wired through a keyed fuse block I...

  2. CB Antenna grounding

I had this antenna cable on my 80 and went to use it on the 100, but can't remember how it hooks up. It doesn't look like it has a provision for grounding. I think I'm missing the plastic washers that isolate it from the ARB mount, but do I just need those on each side of the mount, keeping the...

  3. WC HAM Call Sign List

Got my geek on over the weekend and created a quick reference HAM list for WC'ers. I couldn't find call signs for everyone, but the list should include everyone who has hinted they have a HAM. It would be great if we could keep this up-to-date for quick download when venturing out, so if you see...

  4. Radio Mod

I have a Yeasu VX-7R, and am wondering if I can "modify" it so it can receive/transmit on aircraft bands. IE I think the "channel" that I would mostly use is 122.80. I think that is a FM band... Help from the more experience greatly appreciated.

  5. Ham Use in South & Central America

Hi, I am in the planning phase for a trip to Tierra Del Fuego and am looking for any personal experience that forum members have had in taking their ham rigs to Central or South America. I have found that several countries only require a IARP to operate in their country but just as many require...

This is just too random to not post. I was double checking how to solder one of these on the end of my coax and this is what my google search pulled up. (Notice the first link on the website) http://www.cbtricks.com/members/toban/index.htm http://www.cbtricks.com/members/toban/coax.jpg

  13. Dear Jack

I am headed over to Landon's to do some things on the 80 and 4Runner. I was asking him when we can copy his Kenwood/IC706 ham radio bracket for my 80. He mentioned that you have a pretty nice setup also. I was wondering if you would be willing to post some pictures of your setup. I have seen it,...

  15. Old Radios Still Good?

I recently got my technician license and was given an Icom IC-28A by my dad. He has three of them that are all about 25 years old and have seen infrequent use through the years. They're a 5W/25W model. After doing some distance checks, the furthest we can talk is about 2-3 miles. Doesn't matter...

  17. So I have a Ham study guide

So I think I am going to study the Ham test and then I will have to get into this. What does the test consist of? Is there a preformance test? How much does a Ham radio for my LC cost?
